KLM Engineering & Maintenance (KLM E&M) is the maintenance division of KLM, with its main base located at Schiphol. Together with Air France Industries (AFI), it is an integral part of Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M), a world-leading multi-product MRO (Maintenance Repair & Overhaul) provider in the aircraft maintenance industry. AFI KLM E&M’s global network offers tailored, fast-turnaround and cost-effective services.
With a workforce of over 14,000, AFI KLM E&M offers comprehensive technical support for airlines, ranging from engineering and line maintenance to engine overhaul, aero structure and more. AFI KLM E&M supports almost 2,800 aircraft operated by 200 major international and domestic airlines. AFI KLM E&M developed “The “MRO Lab”, an unique innovations program where all innovations and its network of affiliates converge. It generates scale effects, optimizes fleet performance and improves airworthiness. Adaptive innovations like PROGNOS ®, predictive maintenance range of solutions optimizes airframe and engines MRO operations. Digitalization and robotics boost the efficiency of innovative solutions on an unprecedented scale.
AFI KLM E&M’s wide range of repair capabilities provides customers also adaptive defense solutions. Over more than 30 years of close cooperation with an array of military organizations, on various aircraft platforms, AFI KLM E&M developed an approach focused on satisfying the expectations of air forces, supported by the expertise of the engineering units. The French Air Force’s AWACS fleet is supported by AFI KLM E&M while the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s KDC10 was supported till phase-out in October 2021. NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and International Aerospace Management Company (IAMCO), has awarded AFI KLM E&M for ‘Best Source Of Repair’. As the best supplier of component support services, based on punctuality, quality and contract management criteria, the awarding highlights the high-level military support services.
