Xsens Technologies B.V. is a Netherlands-based developer of inertial sensor modules and motion-tracking technology, headquartered in Enschede and founded in 2000 as a spin-off from the University of Twente. Over more than two decades, Xsens has established itself as a recognised supplier of MEMS-based inertial measurement units (IMUs) and integrated navigation systems, with proprietary sensor-fusion algorithms at the core of every product.

For defence and security applications, Xsens delivers accurate and reliable orientation, heading and positioning data. Xsens modules support capabilities such as platform and antenna stabilisation, underwater sonar, firing systems, gimbals, turret stabilization, sensor and payload pointing, and the navigation and control of unmanned aerial, ground and maritime systems.

A distinguishing strength of Xsens is that its development is kept entirely in-house in the Netherlands. Firmware, software, hardware engineering and individual sensor calibration are all performed internally, and the sensor modules are produced in the Netherlands. Xsens products are not ITAR restricted.

The Xsens portfolio ranges from ultra-compact OEM modules to ruggedised, MIL-STD certified systems. The MTi 1-series provides a 12 × 12 mm surface-mount module with onboard sensor fusion. The MTi-1 series scales from basic IMU, with time synced and calibrated components, to the smallest form factor GNSS/INS + RTK modules available. The MTi-600 series has increased performance and ease of integration. For demanding environments, the Xsens Avior-series offers high-performance navigation in a low size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C) package, and the Xsens Sirius-series provides high-accuracy motion data in an IP68, MIL-STD-qualified housing.

Xsens supports system integrators across the full design cycle with development kits, a complete software suite, SDKs, ROS support and global technical assistance by qualified field application engineers.

Beyond inertial sensor modules, Xsens is a pioneer in inertial 3D motion capture through its MVN product line: full-body, wearable systems that capture human movement with high fidelity, without external cameras or fixed infrastructure. In the defence domain, this technology supports training and simulation, generating realistic human motion for virtual and synthetic environments, and the training of humanoid robots, where captured movement teaches robotic systems natural, human-like motion.
