Cansec 2026: A succesful trade mission with Canada
In the week of May 25th, a delegation comprising representatives from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the NIDV and industry visited Ottawa in Canada. Among the participating companies were Sun Test Systems B.V., Roossien, OneLogistics, Wissekerke Techniek B.V., NIJL Custers Hydraulica BV, and Contour Advanced Systems BV. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Canada facilitated this meeting in an excellent manner.
On the first day, the delegation gained valuable insights into the Canadian defence industry strategy. In addition, constructive discussions took place between the Canadian government and Dutch industry, particularly within the F-35 ecosystem.
On 27 and 28 May, the delegation visited the #CANSEC exhibition, where numerous meetings took place between Canadian and Dutch companies. These discussions helped to strengthen existing relationships and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The success of this mission has since led to a follow-up initiative. The NIDV, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Dutch Embassy in Canada are currently exploring the possibility of a maritime mission in October, including discussions with the Canadian government and a visit to DEFSEC in Halifax.
