Seekable B.V. is a Dutch deeptech company specialised in the detection and localisation of subsea cables and pipelines. Seekable was spun out of League Geophysics B.V., a geophysical think tank that develops and deploys innovative technology as standalone scalable products.
Our technology combines passive electromagnetic (pEM) and acoustic (AC) sensors with a proprietary joint inversion algorithm. This delivers accurate, real-time detection with no active emissions and no environmental disturbance. Seekable integrates commercially available off-the-shelf sensors (COTS) with proprietary software and algorithms; we do not manufacture hardware.
Technology & Innovation
Passive electromagnetic & acoustic system (pEM + AC)
- Dual-sensor integration: pEM detects the electromagnetic field of current-carrying cables; AC sensors register acoustic signatures of cables and pipelines
- Joint inversion algorithm combines both sensor streams into accurate X, Y, Z positioning with quality indicator (Q-parameter)
- No active transmitter required: fully passive system with minimal ecological impact and suitable for covert defence applications
AI-driven signal processing
- Deep learning architectures (CNN, YOLO, U-Net) trained on 5,000+ acoustic simulations (Devito, open-source)
- Standardised X, Y, Z, Q output compatible with existing survey and GIS workflows
- WP1 (acoustic model) fully completed; WP2 (pEM + AC integration) actively in development
Hammerhead, Towed detection wing (KCI contract)
- Towed-wing platform for high-speed detection of cables and pipelines in offshore environments
- Active KCI contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defence; partnership with further expansion in preparation
- Direct application in mine countermeasures (MCM), critical infrastructure protection and offshore energy
Sustainable & Societal Impact
- Monitors critical European energy infrastructure: subsea export cables, interconnectors and offshore wind farm connections
- Supports the security of European telecom and data cable networks (dual-use: civilian and defence)
- Fully passive technology: no electromagnetic disturbance, suitable for deployment in ecologically sensitive marine areas
- Replaces labour-intensive and CO₂-heavy inspection voyages with targeted, data-driven detection missions
